Colorectal cancer in Hong Kong

Colorectal cancer is one of the commonest cancers in Hong Kong. In 2021, there were 5,899 newly registered cases, more than 90% of which occurred in patients 50 years of age or older.
In 2021, 3,427 new cases occurred in males and 2,472 new cases occurred in females. The ratio of the number of male patients to that of female patients was 1.4 : 1.
Of all fatal cancers in Hong Kong, colorectal cancer is ranked second. In 2022, a total number of 2,270 people died of the cancer.
