The colonoscopy examination is done by inserting through the anus a thin flexible tube with a small camera attached on its end to look at the wall of your large bowel. You may receive some sedation or pain killers to decrease any discomfort during the examination.

Before the procedure, you should:- follow the instructions on the admission document given by your CS;
- confirm that you fully understand the procedure and consent to receiving it; and
- complete and sign the Subsidy Redemption Form for Provision of Colonoscopy Services to certify the provision of the service. You should read carefully the sections on “Undertaking and Declarations” of the form before signing.
- will be observed for your health status and declared medically fit before discharge by your CS. You are recommended to have a family member accompany you home after the procedure;
- may be required to pay any outstanding amounts, if any, that you have agreed to pay to the CS, e.g. the co-payment fee; and
- should in the next few days and weeks, continue to watch out for unusual features that may signal the presence of medical complications for which prompt medical attention should be sought. Please study the information given by your CS upon discharge.
